Welcome to the Lancashire Image Archive – you can access our collections of local photographs, postcards and other images held in libraries across the county, as part of the Lancashire County Library and Information Service. Here you will find, at the click of a mouse, life in Lancashire in all its many aspects – people, buildings, streets, transport, architecture, customs, traditions, celebrations and much more! |
- From the menu on the left, use Quick search to search keywords from any part of a record, e.g. +Cheapside +Preston (i.e. both the words appear in a record); river -Ribble (‘Ribble’ NOT to appear in a record)
- Using Advanced search allows you to refine your query and search by specific fields from a record
- To find images by Subject alphabetically, use Indexes search
- To find images by Subject from a hierarchical sequence, use Subjects search; you can select broader or narrower subjects by clicking the folder icons.
- From time to time collections of images will be grouped together for easier viewing; choose Collections from the menu
- Currently the website includes material relating to Preston and Chorley and surrounding areas; other areas are being added on a continuing basis.
Images on this website may be downloaded for personal use only.
Photographic quality copies of most images may be ordered through our Local Studies service
