Title Lancaster Historical Pageant 1913
Caption Lancaster Historical Pageant 1913
Details
Over the Bank Holiday week, 4th to 9th August 1913 a large pageant recreating episodes from Lancaster's historical past was held in Springfield Park. Covered nationally by the newspapers, the event attracted over 40,000 people, who witnessed more than 1200 townsfolk "of all classes" reenact eight episodes from King John to the 1745 Jacobite rebellion in elaborate costumes, before a life size mock up of Lancaster's medieval castle. These photographs are of the medieval episodes from the pageant.
